Good & Evil

“The whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts”

This Gestalt theory of synergy couldn’t ring more true than in the fashion-meets-art world. It is through the eye of the photographer that the vision of a fashion designer is realized and documented as an art form. When the creations of Chinese fashion designer Qiu Hao was combined with the aesthetic vision of French photographer Matthieu Belin, the result is something hauntingly beautiful and strange.

Dressed is Hao’s minimalist, geometric designs, the shadowless models are turned into sculptures inside the white frame of the photograph. They call their collaborative effort Serpens, after the mythological symbol of the reptile representing both good and evil.
