Jeff Koons is collaborating with H&M. His infamous Balloon Dog is getting shrunk down to pocket book size for a limited-edition cross-shoulder bag. For the launch, Koons took over the flagship store emblazoned with the declaration “Fashion Loves Art.” H&M has teamed up with the industry’s biggest names including Karl Lagerfeld, Isabel Marant and Lanvin, but this is the first time the clothing powerhouse is collaborating with an artist.
The fashion industry and the art world are going to overlap more and more as designer-artist collaborations begin to take over. Having big names such as Koons and H&M at the forefront of this shift will only encourage other designers and artists to work together and make this art-world-fashion-hybrid industry explode.
