Dia Art Foundation was named after “dia” the Greek word for “through,” The Dia Art Foundation serves as metamorphosing vehicle through which artists can experiment with their visions that seek to push the boundaries of art. Located in Beacon New York, the foundation, an extension of it’s New York City locations, first founded in 1974 by Philippa de Menil, Heiner Friedrich, and Helen Winkler to enable artists to achieve their visionary projects that might otherwise not have been accepted by typical museums due to their scale or scope. The foundation provides artist aiming to change our perspective on art and the world with the long-term support needed to realize their creations.
