Yayoi Kusama: Japanese polka-dot queen and trippy hippy psychedelic color master. Yayoi is one of those prolific artists that does literally everything. Painting, sculpture, installation, film, performance art, fashion… She’s a little bit surrealist, abstract expressionist, art-brut and a whole lot of avant-garde. She has exhibited all over the world alongside legends like Andy Warhol, George Segal and Claes Oldenburg and has shown in the MoMA, Whitney, Tate Modern, and broke Christie’s record for highest selling living female artist ($5.1 Million).
But she doesn’t get nearly enough attention for the living breathing work of art she has curated out of herself. Yayoi Kusama’s has turned herself, through her clothes, into one of her works of art. She’s designed product and accessory lines for Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton and founded her own line Kusama Fashion Company Ltd. This art-fashion icon Her style is the epitome of Mode meets Arte.
